An Ordinance to provide for and regulate the supply of
water.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Waterworks short title. Ordinance, 1938.

(a) "water authority" means the Director of Public Water Works or such other person as the Governor may appoint to authority. administer, manage or supervise the waterworks or water supply, and includes the executive engineer for the time being in charge of the waterworks;

(b) "authorized officer" includes the water authority Authorized and any person subordinate to him authorized by the Governor to perform any of the functions of the water authority;
(c) "waterworks" includes all gathering grounds, res- Water- ervoirs, dams, weirs, tanks, cisterns, tunnels, filter beds, works. conduits, aqueducts, mains, pipes, meters, fountains, sluices, valves, hydrants, pumps, prime movers and all other structures or appliances used or constructed for the storage, conveyance, supply, measurement or regulation of water, and which have been constructed by or on behalf of the Government and are the property thereof, or which shall hereafter be used or constructed by the water authority;
